How to Reduce Contamination in Scrap Tire Loads

· By Stricco International LLC

A clean, organized load is easier to estimate and stage. Contamination can mean unrelated waste or materials that do not belong in the agreed tire collection.

Keep non-tire waste out of the pile

Do not use the tire staging area as a general waste bin. Loose trash, scrap metal, automotive parts and other materials can complicate loading and may not be accepted with tires.

If another material has become mixed into the pile, tell the service provider before pickup and ask how to separate it.

Identify special handling needs

Mounted tires, unusual sizes, mud, water, damaged equipment or embedded debris can affect how a load is handled. Acceptance varies, so provide accurate details and confirm any special arrangement before service.

For multiple tire types, grouping the tires separately can make the estimated count and pickup scope clearer.

Use a short pre-pickup check

Before the visit, confirm the agreed area, estimated amount, access route and contact person. Ask staff to keep new unrelated material away from the tire pile until the load is removed.

Afterward, update the site log with the actual closeout details. That helps the next pickup start with a cleaner estimate.
